The first stage of one our latest Knowledge Transfer projects was launched today. Contemporary Screen Acting Students from the UWS Skillset Media Academy met with the Manager and Education officer of Applied Care and Development in the beautiful village of Kirkgunzeon in Dumfries and Galloway .
The meeting was the first step in the creation of an innovative online video resource which ACAD will use to market their residential care and rehabilitation service for young adults. UWS students and staff will work over the next 10 weeks to research, write, record and edit the video as part of the small business support initiatives of the South Of Scotland Business Solutions.
I act as the Project manager of the project, which is one of three we are carrying out under the aegis of SOSBS. This module gives the level 9 students the chance to experience embedded work based learning while at the same time satisfying a particular need of a local small business.
Today we discussed the scope, theme and research outcomes of the project, and the students will follow this up with an on site meeting with ACAD staff in a fortnight at our UWS Ayr Television Studios.
I will post on the project as it develops, culminating in the online launch of the finished project in May.
