It’s that time of the  year again . I’m delighted to be M.C.ing  the Doune & Dunblane  Fling By The River again this year. And I’m really excited to be hosting  the awesome    Karen Mathieson and her band in concert at night in the Victoria Hall  next Saturday 28th of May . 
The Fling committee are looking for volunteers and helpers.

  Information on the events are below in case you haven’t seen any publicity yet.  If anyone is willing to help out at any of the events, we would be very grateful.  In particular we need people to help set up and/or clear up for Fling by the River on Saturday (9:30 or10am and 4:30pm respectively) and set up and/or clear up for Rock by the River on Sunday (10am and 4:30pm respectively).  Also, a volunteer or two is/are needed to help set up the chairs in the Victoria Hall for the Concert on Saturday at 5pm.

 

If anyone can help at one or more of the events, please let me know and I’ll pass on details.

Salsa Night Friday 27 May New to the Fling this year is the Salsa Night.  Stirling Salsa’s championship winning instructors will introduce you to some ‘easy’ Salsa steps with a fun beginners’ class so that you are all prepared for the rest of the great Salsa night! Bar available.

Fling Concert : MC Stuart Hepburn  Saturday 28 May Headline act Karen Matheson of Capercaillie and her band supported by Moyenda, a local Malawian group playing from their accoustic repertoire. Bar available.

Pub Music Session Saturday 28 May Tappit Hen Pub, Dunblane, 1pm, FREE

Rock by the River Sunday 29 May Also new this year!  A stage, all the sound gear needed to have a blast, and a load of local bands – everything from up-and-coming outfits from local schools to the well-established African funk band Moyenda.

Fling Festival Club Sunday 29 May Another newcomer to this year’s Fling: the Dunblane Folk Club will host an evening of haute cuisine and even ‘hauter’ tunes.  You will be feasted with the best dishes from the newly published High Street Cookbook, Dunblane on a Plate, and entertained with a mix of Scottish and world music (bring your voices and instruments if you want to join in).  Fairtrade tea and coffee available free courtesy of CafeDirect and The Co-operative but bring your own bottle as there is no bar.

Dunblane on a Plate Cookbook

To celebrate our wonderful High Street, the Fling has put together a Dunblane Cookbook.  

There are all sorts of mouth-watering dishes and drinks from the traditional to the exotic. All the ingredients in the recipes are available from the small shops in 

Dunblane town centre
