Casting call for The Taming of the Shrew, part of the Classic Cuts season at A Play A Pie And A Pint at Oran Mor, Glasgow.

Writer Sandy Nelson and Director Rosie Kellagher transpose Shakespeare’s sharpest comedy to the 1950s: a time of teddy boys and tea dresses, beat poets and Sunday best, when the sexes readied themselves for revolution and lines were drawn on both sides of the sexual revolution. On the cusp of this time of change we find Petruchio and Katherina: the kind of couple who thrive on conflict. Will Petruchio pull his punches or can he tame his shrew?

“If I be waspish, best beware my sting…”

We are looking for students to play a range of small roles in Sandy Nelson’s new adaptation of Taming of the Shrew, directed by Rosie Kellagher. This is a great opportunity to be part of a professional production at Oran Mor’s hugely successful lunchtime theatre.

Rehearsals begin on Monday 10th June in Glasgow and the show runs from Monday 24th to Saturday 29th June. Please note that this is an unpaid opportunity.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday 22nd May at Oran Mor. If you are keen to be considered but are unable to make the auditions on 22nd May, please get in touch as we may be able to arrange an alternative date.
