A message from Laura Kerr, Youth Strategy Officer at South Ayrshire Council, about an excellent opportunity for students to join the Ayrshire Youth Arts Network Advisory Committee
Colleagues,

We are now recruiting young people for the Ayrshire Youth Arts Network Advisory Committee.  The positions are open to young people aged 14 – 25  from Ayrshire – there are 3 places for each Ayrshire, making it a group total of 9.  All of the information and the link to the application form is available at www.youngscot.org/south-ayrshire
I would be grateful if you would consider sharing this information with your contacts to reach as wide a group as possible before the closing date of 28 July. I know the summer period is a difficult time to engage with young people but it is fantastic opportunity and it would be appreciated if you could reach out to any young people who may be interested.
Ideally, we would like to recruit young people from more vulnerable and targeted backgrounds who have benefited from the arts. It would therefore be helpful  if you could provide encouragement and support, if required. I am more than happy to help where needed too, so please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If you are emailing out to young people, here is some suggested text:

Ayrshire Youth Arts Network is a new initiative funded by Creative Scotland, as part of the Time to Shine Strategy. It’s purpose is to enrich young people’s lives through arts and creativity. We are setting up an Ayrshire Youth Arts Advisory Group to help plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate the project which has received £399,000 funding!

We are looking for young people aged 14-25 from across Ayrshire with:

–      Enthusiasm for the arts and creativity
–      Ability to communicate well with adults and young people
–      Ability to work within a group
–      Ability to understand and listen to other people’s views and be sensitive towards the experiences of others
–      Ability to take on board the views of others
–      Ability to work with others in a way that doesn’t judge or discriminate
–      Flexibility and willingness to travel across Ayrshire (we will cover transport costs)
–      A willingness to commit to meetings and other events between 1 – 4 times per month
*Please note the closing date is Monday 28 July 2014 *
Find out more and apply at www.youngscot.org/south-ayrshire or contact Kirsty Gallacher on 01294 273051 or kirsty@impactarts.co.uk
